What happens when Jesus starts messing with your economy? When faith stops being a hobby and starts costing you something? In Acts 19, the people of Ephesus lose their minds because the Gospel hits them right where it hurts—their wallets. Paul preaches that “gods made with hands are not gods,” and suddenly the idol industry crashes.

That’s what the Gospel does—it disrupts business as usual. It threatens the systems that profit from our sin. And when Jesus becomes Lord of your life, all your lesser lords panic.

Mic drops:

“When faith gets real, it shakes things up.”
“When Jesus becomes Lord of your life, all your lesser lords panic.”
“The Gospel wins the day—not by shouting louder, but by outlasting the noise.”
“The Gospel doesn’t just rearrange your playlists—it rewrites your song.”

This message is called “No Little Disturbance.” Because when the real God shows up, all the fake ones start a riot.

Halloween’s over—but the darkness didn’t get the memo.

This week we’re talking about what happens when fake power meets real power, when superstition and control games run head-first into Jesus. Spoiler: the darkness loses. Every. Single. Time.

💬 Mic-drop moments:

“Light moves into darkness. Darkness pushes back. And light wins—every single time.”
“We can’t just tack Jesus onto our life like a magic charm and expect it to work.”
“When darkness meets real power, something’s gonna burn—and it doesn’t have to be you.”

You don’t want to miss this one.

“Not Today, Pastor Pushy” (Acts 19:1–7)

Ever been told you’re “not spiritual enough”?
That you just need to feel it more, cry harder, or speak in tongues to prove you’ve got the Holy Spirit?
Yeah… same.

This week’s message by Pastor Frank is about what it really means to be baptized in the name of Jesus—
and how the Holy Spirit isn’t something you earn by emotional gymnastics.

💧 It’s not a performance. It’s a promise.
🍞 It’s not hype. It’s grace.
🔥 If you're baptized, you already have the Spirit.

Mic drop quotes:

  • “The gifts of the Holy Spirit aren’t a merit badge.”

  • “You don’t need to fake it or chase it. Just rest in it.”

  • “Baptism tells you who you are. Communion reminds you Whose you are.”

  • “The Spirit doesn’t beg you to perform; He helps you love.”

You don’t have to be the complete discipleship package — you just have to do your part. That’s how God’s been building His Church since day one: imperfect people passing on perfect grace.

💬 “God’s been running His Church on unqualified people since day one.”
💬 “If we make it all about us, we’ll stay stuck on the cliff talking about gravity.”
💬 “When we stop making faith about ourselves and start helping someone else — boom! — all the courage we need shows up.”

Watch the full message and see why discipleship isn’t a program — it’s a chain reaction.

Ever noticed how many people have been walking away from church? Pastors. Musicians. Friends. Maybe even your kids. Maybe even you.

Here’s the truth—people don’t usually leave because they stopped believing. They leave because they’ve been hurt.
By hypocrisy. By spiritual abuse. By a version of Christianity that forgot the Gospel isn’t “try harder”… it’s “It is finished.”

This week’s message is for the wounded and the ones who want to help—
its and answer for those who’ve been hurt by the church,
and those of us who need to repent for how we’ve misrepresented Jesus.

💔 There’s still hope.
✝️ Jesus is still gentle and lowly in heart.
🔥 And His grace is still strong enough to heal what religion broke.

"Don’t confuse the failure of Christians with the failure of Christ."

Corinth was the original “hot mess church.” Divisions, lawsuits, scandal, communion like a frat party, worship like a Red Bull kindergarten—yeah, they made today’s craziest charismaniacal freakshows look like Sunday naptime.

But Paul didn’t just yell “do better.” He kept pointing them back to the only thing that holds a church together: the cross of Jesus.

The cross isn’t just at the center of Christianity—it is Christianity.

This Sunday at NewChurch: 1 Corinthians Flyover.
Come hear how God takes a dumpster fire church (like Corinth… like us) and keeps it alive by the foolish power of Christ crucified and risen.

Ever feel like you’re giving it your all, but nothing’s working?
Church hurt? Culture wars? Prayers bouncing off the ceiling?
Discouragement: 1. You: 0. That’s how Paul felt in Corinth. Until Jesus pulled a midnight mic drop: ‘Don’t be afraid. I am with you. I’ve got people in this city.’ Guess what? He still does.

Paul stood on Mars Hill and told the intellectual elite, “What you worship as unknown, I proclaim to you.”
This week, we looked at that sermon — and yeah, we tied in Charlie Kirk’s assassination and what it means to be “Mars Hill brave” in our own cultural battleground.

“There’s no argument that can disprove truth, so the only response is always violence.”
“Only good people go to heaven — and there’s only one truly good person. His name is Jesus.”

Some mocked Paul, some delayed, a few believed. Same responses today.

Athens had Zeus, Athena, and Apollo.
We’ve got money, sports, politics, and little glowing screens in our pockets.
Same idols. New packaging.

The problem? We don’t even notice them anymore.
Paul was disgusted. We’re entertained.

💥 “If idols don’t bother you, they’ll consume you.”
💥 “The scariest idol is the one that doesn’t bother us anymore.”

Want the truth? Don’t settle for what’s new when what you need is what’s true.

The church in Thessalonica was barely out of diapers when Paul wrote to them — and they were already getting mobbed for ‘turning the world upside down.’ Funny how the Gospel always does that. Disrupts. Offends. Wrecks people’s comfort zones. They were newbies but they seemed to be rockin' it.

Meanwhile, we lose our religion if Chick-fil-A runs out of Avocado Ranch.

Paul told the Thessalonians: ‘This is the will of God, your sanctification.’ Translation: God cares about how you live. Holiness matters. Purity matters. Love matters. And let’s be honest — we don’t exactly nail that every day.

But here’s the good news: ‘He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.’ That’s the mic drop. Jesus finishes what we can’t.

So if you’ve ever wondered how to hold on to your faith when the world feels upside down — this one’s for you. Watch or listen now.

Angel just preached his last sermon at NewChurch before heading to seminary. Spoiler: he got engaged, he’s packing up the CRV for St. Louis, and he dropped some truth bombs along the way:

“If your yes to Jesus still leaves you living for yourself, you didn’t really say yes — you just said maybe.”

“Our yes to Jesus changes our lives, but His yes to us changes our eternity.”

“When I proposed to Sophie, she said yes — but only because I said yes first. That’s the Gospel. Jesus said yes to us before we ever said yes to Him.”

If you’ve ever struggled with commitment, fear, or wondering what your “yes” really means, you’ll want to watch this one.

You ever notice how people have really strong opinions about the Bible… without actually reading it? We scroll memes, share quotes ripped out of context, argue about “what Jesus would do” like it’s a group project, and then quietly hope nobody asks us where any of that’s actually written.

It’s like cramming for the final exam of life by… watching the movie trailer. You get the general vibe, but you miss the actual story—and then you’re shocked when the test is full of questions you’ve never even heard of.

Today we’re going to meet two groups of people who heard the same message about Jesus. One group grabbed pitchforks, the other grabbed their Bibles. And spoiler alert—the Bible-readers changed the world.

So yeah—this isn’t just about them. This is about us.

“If your faith never costs you anything, it’s probably not faith in Jesus.”
That’s the sermon.
Paul and Silas got thrown in prison, beaten, and still sang worship songs at midnight.
Meanwhile, we’re mad if someone parks in our usual spot. This one’s about pain, purpose, and why God might not be trying to get you out of the hard place—but use you in it.
Catch the replay. And maybe ask yourself what your midnight song sounds like.

"If the only voice you trust is your own—you’re being discipled by a liar and a fool."

Oof. That one left a mark.

We all want to believe we're following truth… but how do you know who to trust anymore? Politicians? Influencers? Yourself? Your spiritual Spotify playlist?

This week at NewChurch, we talked about competing voices, the lies we buy into, and what happens when God’s truth disrupts the noise.

🔗 Catch up on the message now and ask yourself: Who do you trust?

P.S. In this sermon, I mentioned that “pythons and seraphim are the same word in the Bible.” That’s not technically true. They’re actually different words in different languages—“python” (Greek, Acts 16) refers to a spirit of divination, while “seraphim” (Hebrew, Isaiah 6) are heavenly beings associated with fire and God's throne.
That said—both are linked with serpents in Scripture. One is a deceiving spirit, the other a burning angelic presence. Both are spiritual powers. But one lies. The other worships.
In Numbers 21, God sends seraph serpents (seraphim) to bite the people for their rebellion. The people repent, and Moses is told to make a bronze serpent and lift it up—foreshadowing Christ (John 3:14).
The seraph as a fiery serpent shares symbolic space with the Python spirit—both are serpent figures associated with spiritual power, but one is from God’s judgment and the other from pagan deception.
Thanks for listening closely, for your grace, and for being part of this messy, beautiful journey of learning God's Word together.

“Faith comes by hearing… not zoning out.”
Let’s be real—you’ve probably nodded through a sermon or two while mentally making a grocery list. No judgment. But this one? You’re gonna want to actually hear it. It’s about a woman who listened for real—and it flipped her whole life (and her whole household) upside down in the best way. Open hearts, open homes, and a God who still speaks.

Click play. You might hear something that sticks.

“Closed Doors (Acts 16:6–10)”
Ever had a dream die? A plan crumble? A door slam shut right on your fingers while you were trying to pry it open in Jesus' name? Yeah. Us too.

Paul had the Spirit of Jesus tell him “Nope” (twice!) before finally getting a vision to head somewhere he hadn’t even planned. Turns out God is better at Google Maps than we are.

This message is for anyone who’s ever been frustrated by redirection and divine silence. Spoiler: Closed doors might be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Jesus loves you just the way you are… but also wants you to knock it off and get out of your comfort zone. 😬 This week’s sermon is all about giving up perfectly good things—for perfectly better reasons. Like the Gospel. And love. And maybe even wearing something other than black. Some of us are way too loud with our opinions. Others are way too quiet with our faith. This week’s sermon asks one simple question: what are you willing to give up so someone else can actually see Jesus in you? It’s about comfort zones, spiritual pride, and loving people more than being right. So yeah… it’s not super comfortable. Watch anyway.

Ever feel like you’ve messed up so bad there's no coming back? Like you’re permanently in someone’s “Do Not Trust” file—or worse, your own? Yeah, us too.

This week’s message is called “God Writes Comebacks”—because He does.
Even when people give up on you.
Even when you give up on you.
Even when your idea of a good church service involves fog machines, metal music, and letting the devil preach (true story—watch to believe it).

Before you write someone off—or yourself—give this a listen. You might just find God isn’t done with you yet.

Your voice is more powerful than you think.

This message isn’t just for dads, but it might challenge a few of us to stop weaponizing the silent treatment and start loving people like we actually want them in our lives. 😬

If you’ve ever struggled to connect with your kid, your spouse, your dad—or God—this one's for you.

Is God your sugar daddy in the sky? Your cosmic Uber driver who exists to make your life comfortable—as long as you keep Him happy?

Kemper Crabb, our Head Elder at NewChurch, preached a mind-bending, soul-stretching Pentecost sermon that tackles Job, suffering, and that creepy 70s song “Vehicle”… and somehow ties it all together with spiritual warfare and the church’s high calling to glorify God in pain.

This one isn’t your feel-good, self-help Jesus talk. It’s deeper, truer, and might explain why life has been hitting you so hard lately.

🛑 If you’ve ever thought “I’ve done everything right—why am I still suffering?” — you need to hear this.

🎙️ This week’s sermon was preached by Angel Hart.
That’s right—Pastor’s kid, fresh off graduating college and on his way to seminary, got up and gave the message at NewChurch.

So if you’ve ever wondered what it would sound like if Pastor Frank was younger, and more emotionally intelligent… you should probably give this one a listen. 😏

He tackles what it means to love God with all your heart—yes, including your messy, ridiculous, over-the-top emotions. Sadness, joy, rage, nerf darts to the face—it’s all in there. And it might just help you worship God better with your whole self.

💡You might laugh. You might cry. You might even question your relationship with dodgeballs.

🎧 Give it a listen. #ProudDadMoment

🍦 “It’s not gluttony if it’s Blue Bell.”
🛑 False. Also—nice try.

This week we’re talking about the sneaky ways we justify our sin—especially the ones that feel totally normal (like sexual sin, cohabitation, and... queso addiction). It’s a sermon about tape, temple prostitutes, blood sausage, and why God’s design for sex is more than just outdated rules.

👀 Come ready to be slightly offended, deeply encouraged, and reminded that Jesus is way better at justifying you than you are.

This week, we’re tackling the entire book of Galatians in one message—yep, the whole thing. Six chapters. One sermon. No pressure.

It’s the first time we’ve done a Making Sense of the Bible message from the New Testament, and Galatians does not hold back. Paul is spicy. The Gospel is clear. And the bottom line? Jesus plus nothing.

Please… for the sake of humanity… listen to this message.

I’m serious.

If we don’t figure out how to talk with each other—how to deal with conflict without setting everything on fire—then we’re just going to keep ruining Thanksgiving dinners, blowing up text threads, and unfollowing each other over pineapple pizza and politics.

We are living in the golden age of misunderstanding. Everyone is offended. Everyone is defensive. And nobody listens. We argue with strangers online, ghost our friends, and say things like, “I’m just speaking my truth,” which is often code for “I’m about to say something terrible and not take responsibility for it.”

But what if I told you the way out of this mess might just be hidden in something we should have learned from our moms?

What if validation—real, humble, Christ-centered validation—is the secret sauce for every relationship?

Not just for parenting. But for marriages. Friendships. Coworkers. And yes… even your enemies. Especially your enemies.

So yeah. For the sake of your family, your faith, and maybe even humanity itself—stick with me.

Because this message might just change the way you love people. And it all starts when your kid brings home a freaky girlfriend…
