If you read the Bible from beginning to end, you might be surprised to find out that there is hardly any effort spent trying to prove God exists. There isn’t anyone in the Bible who doesn’t believe there’s a God—not one person. There are plenty of people who worship God the wrong way, or worship the wrong god entirely—but there are no atheists. The wisdom literature talks about “fools” who live their lives and act like there’s no God—and the world has always been filled with fools—but the Word of God doesn’t spend any time trying to convince them that there’s a God. It gets right to the point—Genesis Chapter one, verse one: In the beginning GOD. The Bible starts at the same place we all do: Everyone knows in their heart that God exists. So, the question is, “Who is God? What is God? And what does it have to do with us?”

Why do you go to church? The answer to that question will probably determine more about the quality of your worship experience than anything else. The reasons you go to church will have more impact on your spiritual growth, happiness, joy, and overall satisfaction with your church than the preacher, the music, the architecture, the liturgy, the people or the comfort of the seating. Combined!

We live in a pornographic, sex-crazed culture—who would deny it? What should be the Christian response? How are we supposed to deal with all the temptation and with all the popular opinions about what is normal and acceptable? 

How can we use our citizenship as Americans to worship God and love people?

What are the biggest intellectual threats to the Christian faith?

How can we expect our kids to survive going to school with their faith in tact? How can any of us hope to continue believing in Jesus when we are surrounded by such a hostile culture? Where our faith is viewed as a crutch, the Bible is thought to be an irrelevant old dusty book—just ancient superstition and mythology—where Christianity is mostly seen as being judgmental and intolerant, where morality is thought to be situational, where everyone is supposed to find their own truth, where people think they can be good without God, and Jesus was just an interesting man who died a long time ago—like Elvis.

How do we tell truth from lies? Is there a way? 

Since God chose you, put these things on. It’s like wearing your Incredible Hulk shirt to remember how to treat people. Someone said something I don’t agree with on Facebook! Remember: Tenderhearted mercy. But, Hillary! Trump! A celebrity said something offensive! Remember: Kindness, humility. Someone I know, a friend or family member said something—or did something—that really hurt me! Remember: Gentleness and patience. But everyone’s an idiot except for me! Remember: Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. But it’s hard to forgive people! Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.
